every country has its own way of doing things - the shortcuts, the unspoken rules, the “right” forms hidden behind the wrong ones. often, we’re required not just to fill out documents, but also to know which counter to stand at, who to ask, and how to read between the lines. for someone just arriving, it’s a maze that can feel impossible to navigate.

MIGRA was created out of this gap. we’re Ana and João (we know, the most Portuguese names ever), childhood best friends turned bureaucracy bodyguards. after years of watching people lose time (and patience) trying to navigate Portugal’s paperwork maze, we decided to do something about it. with precision, empathy, and just the right amount of coffee.

when Ana’s partner and his family moved from New Zealand to Lisbon, all challenges became clearer. what felt straightforward to a Portuguese local quickly turned into overwhelming hurdles for newcomers: scheduling a doctor’s appointment, renewing a visa, and even setting up insurance. Tasks that should have been simple left them frustrated, stuck, and uncertain.

that experience revealed a privilege often invisible to those born here: knowing the system, the language, and the hidden logic behind it. MIGRA exists to level that field. we provide not just guidance, but hands-on support, turning red tape into clear steps, and standing beside clients when the process gets too heavy to handle alone.
